Course downloads require a subscription, but this is true for most golf GPS devices, and the subscription is not expensive at all.
iGolf's competitors, the Garmin Approach G5 and the Callaway uPro cost over twice as much as the iGolf does. The only real difference is the fancy graphics they have. The iGolf gets you the same information these others do, it just presents the information to you via an LCD read out with no pictures of maps.
If you want the benefits of having a golf GPS but don't want to spend a few hundred dollars on one, then the iGolf Neo Pocketsize Golf GPS could easily be the unit for you.
